In the early 2000s, Cambodia faced numerous challenges in adopting widespread internet use. During this period, Khmer24 established itself as an important player in online marketing, paving the way for e-commerce in the country.
Mr. Ty Rady, the CEO of Khmer24, is a notable figure in Cambodia’s digital sector. A graduate of Norton University with an IT degree, he has focused his career on advancing technology and e-commerce in Cambodia. He also teaches IT at various universities in Phnom Penh. His dedication to education and technology is a key aspect of his professional life.

With a modest investment of just $50, a 30-year-old launched the platform with the vision of creating a digital marketplace that would benefit the Cambodian people. His principle of making things that people can use to gain benefit was the driving force behind the Khmer24 project. Initially, the company had only one employee – Mr. Rady himself.
It was very challenging for him to start this kind of business during a time when the internet was not accessible to everyone. The platform has been involved and stays active thanks to his strategy, which applies both traditional and digital methods. Currently, as a 50-year-old CEO, he is excited to share with us his workflow from day to night.
Khmer24 Company’s Sign
By 8:00 AM, Mr. Rady arrives at the Khmer24 office. His first task is a quick walk around the office to greet his team and check in with various departments. He believes in maintaining a close connection with his employees and fostering a collaborative and open work environment. At 8:30 AM, he holds a daily briefing with his senior management team to discuss the day’s priorities, review ongoing projects, and address immediate concerns.
The mid-morning is dedicated to strategic planning and meetings. Mr. Rady spends this time reviewing the company’s performance metrics, analysing market trends, and planning future initiatives. He often meets with department heads to discuss progress on key projects, brainstorm new ideas, and set goals. These meetings are crucial for aligning the team’s efforts with the company’s long-term vision.
Around noon, Mr. Rady takes a break for lunch. He often uses this time to network with industry peers, potential partners, or investors. These lunch meetings are an opportunity to discuss collaborations, explore new business opportunities, and stay connected with the broader business community.
The afternoon is reserved for focused work sessions. Mr. Rady dedicates this time to deep work on strategic initiatives, such as product development, marketing strategies, and technological innovations. He also reviews reports and proposals, providing feedback and guidance to his team. This uninterrupted time allows him to concentrate on high-impact tasks that drive the company’s growth.

Mr. Rady is passionate about employee development and mentorship. In the late afternoon, he often holds one-on-one sessions with team members to discuss their career goals, provide mentorship, and offer support. He believes in nurturing talent and empowering employees to reach their full potential.
As an IT professor, Mr. Rady dedicates some evenings to teaching at local universities. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with students, inspiring the next generation of tech professionals. Additionally, he is actively involved in community initiatives and often participates in events and workshops aimed at promoting digital literacy and entrepreneurship in Cambodia.
The platform has encountered issues concerning illegal activities. As with any online marketplace, there is always a risk of users attempting to engage in prohibited activities. The platform has implemented robust monitoring systems to detect and prevent illegal activities. This includes automated algorithms that scan listings for prohibited items and services such as e-cigarettes, Alcohol, Adult/pornographic material, and any kind of weapon. Etc. Manual reviews also apply by the moderation team and the platform continuously updates its detection methods to stay ahead of potential threats.
Users are encouraged to report any suspicious or illegal activities they encounter on the platform. Khmer24 provides easy-to-use reporting tools that allow users to flag inappropriate content or behaviour. These reports are promptly reviewed by the moderation team, who are taking appropriate action.
